Full-Day Preschool - Cool Cats

The curriculum in our three-year-old classroom is play-based and child-centered; we follow the child's lead and guide them in exploration. At this stage in development we focus on fine motor control, strengthening fingers and hands through activities like play doh, fingerpaint, lacing, and small manipulatives, preparing the children to hold a pencil and a pair of scissors with confidence and ease. Building relationships with our students is key and we take pride in our classroom community. At Climbing Tree Community School community building is a priority.

I’m Kerri (she/her) and I was born in Alberta, Canada, and moved to Tucson when I was 12. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arizona in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies and Human Development and a concentration in Early Childhood Development. I taught Pre-K for 13 years and since 2019 have been teaching in the three-year-old room. I have two children of my own, and I love my journey as a mom- they keep me on my toes! I enjoy reading whenever I can and playing board games.

I'm Lisa! I was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona and I absolutely love it here. I enjoy getting to spend a lot of time outdoors with my family. I also love to read, cook, swim, and watch movies. I have a wonderful husband and two sons named James (born in 2005) and Braden (born in 2009.) I have my associate’s degree in early childhood education from Pima Community College and am currently in school at Northern Arizona University to receive my bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. I have an immense passion for being an early childhood educator and love working with the amazing staff and children at Climbing Tree Community School. I believe that it is important to build a strong classroom and school community in which students feel empowered and valued, and one in which children will ultimately thrive.

My name is Mariah Calvillo and I am the afternoon teacher in the Cool Cats classroom. I was born in Tucson, Arizona. In my free time, I enjoy being with my family, going to the movies, shopping and traveling. This is my third year with the Cool Cats and I love it here. I have my associates in early childhood education. I am attending the UofA to reach my goal of working with special needs children. I am so excited to be a part of the Cool Cats classroom.
