Extended Day Program
Our extended day program combines to become a multi-age program either outside or in the library in the midafternoon. Children who stay for the extended day will have the opportunity to learn valuable social, mathematical, and language skills through free choice building, arts, dramatic play, and reading activities.
Lead Teacher - Marla Ponce
Hi, My name is Margaret. I like to be called Marla. I moved to Tucson with my two cats Kip and Henry in the fall of 2022 from Dallas, Texas. I have worked with children and families since I was in high school. I have an A.A.S. in Child Development and a B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies. I have always considered Tucson my home away from home. I have been visiting Tucson since I was a child and love the people and the weather in Southern AZ. My hobbies include baking, horseback riding,
origami and traveling.
Teaching Assistant - Karen Wolek
Hi! My name is Karen and I am the afternoon teacher in the Bobcats’ class. I am also one of the after school teachers. I’ve taught preschool for over 15 years and absolutely love it! I am a strong supporter of child-led, play-based learning, and open-ended art. I lived in New York for most of my life, having moved to Tucson 6 years ago. I have three amazing adult children , Stephanie (32), Natalie (28), and Kristin (24). I live with my partner, Steve, and our two dogs, Betsy and Ollie. Besides teaching, I enjoy photography, hiking, art, exploring new places and activities, Aikido (a Japanese martial art), reading, and Star Wars!
